Knock Knock ... Anyone home?
Mon, January 25, 2010 I am here.
Snuggled under the bore of winter. I loathe the cold weather. Born in August, under the sign of Fire, I crave the sun and heat. I tend to become a hermit in the winter. Doing anything that requires me to be out in the cold is a chore.
Outside of being lazy and cold, I am moving forward on many of my New Years resolutions. I didn't really do an official list for the world to see, but mentally I am pushing forward on goals I want to complete.
You know things like:
1. Get my marketing in order.
2. Stop eating the kids fruit snacks late at night and then hiding the wrappers so they don't see them and blame me for eating all their fruit snacks.
3. Have my website reviewed and critiqued, which I did, THANK YOU MELISSA KOEHLER!!
4. Stop drinking the kids Vanilla Milk drinks boxes and then hiding them in the trash so the kids don't blame me for drinking all of them (seriously, Horizon Vanilla Milk is seriously the best drink ever!!)
5. Run a promotion for Seniors & Newborns (new promotion coming.. stay tuned)
6. Stop wondering where the extra 10 pounds came from and refer back to number 2 & 4
You get the idea. I am working both on the business and me goals.
If you don't follow me on Facebook or on Flickr, I wanted to let you know I started doing a 365. What is a 365? It is simply taking a picture a day for the entire year. I started two days late because I dragged my feet on if I wanted to commit to something so grand. But, 23 days in and still going strong. Haven't had to call in sick yet. :)
Project 365 will be a collection of random photographs. Sometimes it will be of my family, or the morning cup of coffee, but I am committing to completing this time. I started two years ago and quit like three weeks in because I got lazy. At the end of it though, I want to do what my friend did with her 365 and make a coffee book out of my successful completion.
The greatest thing I have started though is writing in a journal. As many of you know I used to blog a ton, but not so much anymore. But I still want a place to go back and read my memories. And I want to give my memories to my boys. Memories that fade quickly because so many new ones are being made.
Right now I am in a pretty magnificent place with my boys. Both of them are so vocalized and overflowing with personality that I need to record it.. for us. And it could be as simple as a sentence that "today we took a walk and pretended to be SpongBob characters".
I just want to remember. All of it. Because it is all going so quickly. Which is seriously the number one reason I love photography, my camera is a time capsule. My memory, not so much. :)
So as I push forward with resolution and retire my late night fruit snacks, vanilla milk binge, push forward to logging miles on my sneakers and become successful in my second year in business I silently wait for Spring.
And that flipping ground hog better not see his shadow next week.
Because I am so over winter.

See, this is why I read your blog...its good to know I'm not alone! Also born in August and despise temps below 62! And so far I haven't quit on my 365 project either!
Good for you!! Hopefully no matter what the groundhog sees, you will get sunshine and warmer temps. Seeing your post and your friend's 365 book motivates me to give it a go too.
I find that I am absolutely the opposite. I LOOOVE the winter. Living in the desert.. I'm more than happy to venture out when it is 45, rathern than when it is 115. :) Good luck with your goals, though. I think it is never too late to start a project 365. I don't think anything needs to begin with a new year. Begin now. Today is just as good as any other. :)
Your 365 project will be a wonderful family heirloom. I wish I had done something like that when my kids were younger. They do grow up so fast.
I search and recently came across your blog and have been reading along. It was wonderful blog.
