Wordless & Wordful Wednesday - Abandoned

Have I shared that I love shooting landscapes? I do.  It helps me understand shadows, and how light falls.  It helps open the creative part of my mind that I can then, hopefully, carry over to my portrait work.

Yesterday I decided to take a quick drive to an area that is filled with creepy abandoned buildings.  The site is home to a psychiatric center.  Majority of the buildings are still populated, however, there are a few that have been abandoned and demolished.  Here are my favorite shots from the day:

As soon as I saw the photos, before I read the captions, I knew this was an old abandoned psych facility. You captured its beauty quite well. I can almost feel the pain of those who suffered behind these walls....

Glad I was this in the morning and not before bed. You captured the creepiness quite well. Now...how about you go back out there late, all by yourself, at night during a thunderstorm? That'd be some good pics too!

Okay... that "was" should have been "saw". :)

Love the grittiness of the colors and images -- something quite romantic about old, beautiful but decaying buildings.

Wow, those are truly gorgeous. I really need to force myself out of this house and shooting more. Thank you for inspiring me!

Do you know there's a name for this type of photography? And there's a huge movement on Flickr?
I LOVE ruins too :)

People deserve good life and mortgage loans or term loan would make it better. Because people's freedom depends on money.
