My Knees Were Shaking..
Sun, January 3, 2010 On December 20th I photographed my first wedding. I still cannot get over it when I say those words.
I was introduced to the bride on a quick phone call one day while my girlfriend and her were driving to Manhattan to pick out bridesmaids dresses. They told me that they originally were not going to have a photographer because they wanted to keep it intimate but my girlfriend did a great sell of my services and the bride agreed to use me!! (Thanks again Georgia!!)
The one I wanted to get across to her was that I had never photographed a wedding. They only wanted me to take photographs of the ceremony because the reception was going to be a small dinner for family and friends. Either way I was super excited.
The night before her wedding Long Island was hit with its first blizzard of the season. 28 inches to be exact. The church was only five minutes from my house so I told her that no matter what I would be there, and I was. I was nervous. So very, very, very nervous. Serioulsy, my knees were shaking because I wanted to deliver photographs that captured their day.
Before I share the photographs, I want to say that the bride was stunning. Her brother commented before she got there that she is the most amazing woman, and I have to say I agree. And even though the snow tried to interfere with their day, all of their family and friends filled the church to see them declare their love for one another. It was simply beautiful.
Here are some of my favorite shots from the day.

The priest was blessing her brothers Rosary Beads.. The light was super bright, overexposing the image, but I love the texture it gave to the photograph.

I begged her to freeze outside for a few photographs..I am glad I did!
Thank you K&K for allowing me to photograph such a beautiful event. It was truly an honor.

Ohhhh, how exciting!! Gorgeous photographs! I know that feeling. I've shot two weddings, and I can't even tell you how nervous I was. Thank god I had a partner to help. I missed the first kiss, and he got it. He missed something else that I captured well. Phew. The second wedding, we were checking ligthing, etc... and then the bride walked out.. and they turned the lights off! NOBODY bothered to tell us they were turning the lights off. We looked at eachother, totally mortified. We managed to pull it off, but talk about a heart attack!
Well done!! What stunning shots!! She must've been so very cold in that last shot. LOVE the second last one
Beautiful!!
I think that you did a wonderful job!!
The last shot, of the couple with the snow in the background, is absolutely stunning, a brilliant capture. You did a great job capturing the emotions of the day.
woah.
like, woah.
awesome.
WOW! What a magnificent job Kim! The bride looks so beautiful. There is so much emotion captured in each picture. I think most wedding photographers and brides are so worried about getting "everyone and everything" in each photo as documentation of their special day, but your pictures capture so much more, they're palpable. Bravo!
You did an AMAZING job! I can't believe this is your first wedding. Congrats to the newlyweds :)
These are amazing. Your photographs tells a story. I felt like I am looking into a window at the wedding.
Well done, Kim!!! Is that first one a fish eye or an attachment?
You did great! I am sure the bride and groom are so happy they decided to hire you instead of going with no one (or just snapshots). Congratulations!
I had my first "real" wedding in December too. My knees and pretty much every other bone in my body were shaking. It was fun but scary!
Gorgeous! You did an awesome job! LOVE the first pic!
Oh Kim. Congrats. Congrats. Congrats. My knees would have been shaking too. You did a wonderful job.
They're beautiful! I wish you had been there when I got married! My photographer had just had back surgery and was all hopped up on meds!
Those are beautiful pictures! Congrats to the lovely couple and to you for doing such excellent work despite your 'shaky knees' :)
